Dr. John Murray, DDS
Dr. John Murray is a Board Certified Orthodontist who received both his dental degree and his orthodontic specialty certificate from Columbia University in New York City. Then, like so many of us, he chose to live and raise his family in Alaska because of his love of the outdoors. Dr. Murray has practiced Orthodontics in Anchorage, Alaska since 1996.
Dr. Murray’s father was also an orthodontist and he used to hang out in his dad’s practice when he was a boy. From a very early age he knew he wanted to follow in his dad’s footsteps; changing lives through the gift of a healthy, confident smile.
Dr. Murray lives in Anchorage with his wife, Vivienne and their two children, Katherine and Alex.
Dr. Murray is the only orthodontist in the state with hospital privileges at Providence Hospital.

He has participated in a wide range of courses and seminars to stay updated on the latest advancements in the field of orthodontics. His commitment to learning and professional growth is evident from the various continuing education classes he has taken. From attending the Aligner Intensive Fellowship to the American Association of Orthodontists Annual Session, Dr. Murray has consistently sought out opportunities to expand his knowledge and skills. This dedication to continuing education ensures that he provides his patients at Murray Orthodontics with the most up-to-date and effective treatment options available.
A Fluid Constant of Continuing Education at Murray Orthodontics
Pediatric Sleep Disorders and Airway Management. A review of sleep apnea and sleep disordered breathing in younger patients and how to best work with other health care professionals to address these issues.
The Aligner Intensive Fellowship. An in-depth study over many months into treating patients with Invisalign. Dr. Warren Libby and Dr. John Murray complete this fellowship and renew their studies involving this fellowship repeatedly as the technology changes rapidly. This dedication to the changing technology increases our skill level and our confidence with aligners.
Digital Orthodontics. Educational updates re-newing our skill level and familiarization of digital scanners, digital models and 3D printing and digital imaging in orthodontic technology.
Practical Review in Orthodontics. A monthly review of curated articles from academic journals related to orthodontic research.
American Association of Orthodontics Annual Meeting. A national meeting of the latest technologies, research, speakers at the forefront of the profession.
Corus Presentations and Zoom Meetings. An affiliation of approximately sixty practices with “Pearls” from each practice presented to the group quarterly with mandatory participation allowing each practice to participate and share in “best practices.”
Practice visits. Visits to leading practices around the country to learn the latest orthodontic mechanics, techniques, efficiencies, practice management skills, and systems of each department in a busy practice. Staff members join doctors during these visits to immerse themselves in the area of their expertise.
